Backup and Recovery Systems Consultant

Note: Relocation and Signing Bonus Available for Qualified Applicants

Qualifications: The Backup and Recovery Systems Engineer should have strong skills and experience with an enterprise backup software solution and related technologies.  This person should be experienced with implementing and administering enterprise backup software solutions to ideally include integration with disk-based backup targets and de-dupe backup targets:

  • 4+ years of design, implementation, support and administration experience with EMC Networker or EMC Avamar, including:
    • Development and implementation of backup policies
    • Deployment of application-specific modules such as MS Exchange, MS SharePoint, MS SQL and Oracle
    • Experience with B2D2T solutions
  • Additional experience supporting other enterprise technologies and services, including:
    • Data Domain and/or Quantum Dxi
    • Enterprise tape libraries (Quantum, StorageTek)
    • Other enterprise backup software solutions (e.g., Symantec Netbackup, CommVault)
    • Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Citrix XenServer)
    • Networking technologies/concepts 
  • Professional communication skills; written and verbal
  • Familiarity with common business tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • 4 year degree from accredited college/university or equivalent work experience
  • Desired certifications include EMC Proven Professional (EMCTA, EMCIE, EMCPE), and any other vendor-specific enterprise technology certifications (e.g., MCSE, MCITP, CCNA, CCENT, VCP, etc.)

Responsibilities: The Backup and Recovery Systems Engineer will be a key member of our team, implementing storage solutions for our customers.  This person must have experience working in complex, multi-vendor environments, performing implementation activities, troubleshooting a wide variety of problems, and working with customers to solve their technology issues. Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following list:

  • Implementation of EMC-based solutions in customer environments
  • Troubleshoot issues related to implementation or integration with legacy customer infrastructure
  • Train or transfer knowledge to customer, as needed
  • Create or update documentation related to design or implementation activities
  • Assist presales engineers and account managers with technical questions or proposal generation
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for other Clearpath employees about enterprise backup technologies
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures
  • Work outside of standard business hours, if required
  • Perform other tasks as directed
