VMware Virtualization Consultant

Note: Relocation and Signing Bonus Available for Qualified Applicants

Qualifications: The VMware Virtualization Consultant should have deep skills and experience with VMware virtualization and related technologies.  This person should be experienced with implementing server virtualization solutions, including various replication and disaster recovery technologies, along with broad skills in other supporting enterprise technologies:

  • 4+ years of implementation, support and administration experience with VMware virtualization technologies in Windows and UNIX environments, including:
    • vSphere 4.x/5.x, vCenter 4.x/4.x
    • View 4.x/5.x
    • Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
    • Physical to Virtual (P2V) tools
    • VMware PowerCLI
    • vCloud Director/Connector (desired)
    • CapacityIQ (desired)
    • Lab Manager (desired)
  • Additional experience supporting other enterprise technologies and services, including:
    • Microsoft Active Directory
    • Cisco routing & switching technologies
    • Storage Area Networks (EMC preferred, NetApp, Hitachi, IBM, Dell)
    • Cisco MDS or Brocade fibre channel switching
  • Professional communication skills; written and verbal
  • Familiarity with common business tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • 4 year degree from accredited college/university or equivalent work experience
  • Desired certifications include VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Advanced Professional (VCAP), Design Expert (VCDX), desktop virtualization (VCA-DT, VCP-DT) and any other vendor-specific enterprise technology certifications (e.g. EMCTA, EMCIE, EMCPE, MCSE, MCITP, CCNA, CCENT, etc.)

Responsibilities: The VMware Virtualization Consultant will be a key member of our team, implementing virtualization solutions for our customers.  This person must have experience working in complex, multi-vendor environments, performing implementation activities, troubleshooting a wide variety of problems, and working with customers to solve their technology issues. Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following list:

  • Implementation of VMware-based virtualization solutions in customer environments
  • Troubleshoot issues related to implementation or integration with legacy customer infrastructure
  • Train or transfer knowledge to customer, as needed
  • Create or update documentation related to design or implementation activities
  • Assist presales engineers and account managers with technical questions or proposal generation
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for other Clearpath employees about VMware and virtualization technologies
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures
  • Participate in project review process to identify future improvements
  • Work outside of standard business hours, if required
  • Stay current on industry trends and new technologies and recommend future initiatives
  • Perform other tasks as directed
